11 Basic Features of DC V2L Charging Products Should Have

Electric vehicles are equipped with large-capacity electrical power stations. When the electric vehicle has the function of outputting electrical energy to the outside of the vehicle, the vehicle can be regarded as a portable power station.

Vehicles with V2L(Vehicle to Load) functions can provide electrical energy for household or emergency rescue loads. DC V2L will be the most suitable supplement to the currently hottest portable power stations, and more comprehensively meet people's needs for outdoor electricity.

Does DC V2L have long-term market prospects? What features should it have? What are the key points of technical implementation?

 

Here are 11 basic features that DC V2L charging products should have:

 

1. Inverter

The core function of DC V2L is to convert the DC power of the power battery into the AC power of the electrical equipment. This is the inverter and DC/AC converter in the field of power electronics.

The output of the inverter is preferably a standard sine wave. The output must be able to connect to different types of loads, especially RCD loads, which is also the focus of product testing. Some car inverters convert the 12V from the cigarette lighter to 220V, and their output may be a triangle wave instead of the standard sine wave.

 

2. Multiple protections

Input overvoltage/undervoltage protection, input overcurrent protection, input anti-reverse connection protection, output overvoltage/undervoltage protection, output overcurrent protection, block output short circuit protection, module overtemperature/low temperature protection. There are 2 fuses on the input side and output side respectively. There are 2 DC contactors on the input side and 2 AC relays on the output side.

 

3. Wake up BMS

The discharger comes with three lithium batteries with 18650 cells connected in series, which wake up the discharger's auxiliary power system and vehicle-side BMS. And when the lithium battery is depleted, the lithium battery can be charged via an external 5V power supply through the USB interface. This is also the most critical link in realizing V2L technology.

 

4. Communicate with the vehicle BMS

Communicates with the vehicle BMS to induce the main relay of the vehicle's power battery to close, allowing the vehicle to discharge externally.

 

5. One-button switch on and off

Press the switch button of the peripheral device, and the relay inside the discharger is closed and connected to the standard lithium battery. The power of the lithium battery calls the auxiliary power system of the discharger and the vehicle BMS to start the discharge.

In the discharge state, press and hold the switch button of the peripheral. After the auxiliary control chip detects that the level here is low and lasts for more than 2 seconds, the vehicle BMS enters the sleep state, K5 and K6 on the vehicle are disconnected, and the low-voltage auxiliary source switches to Powered by batteries, the module stops working. After releasing the button, the low-voltage auxiliary source stops working, and the CAN chip, auxiliary control chip, and main control chip enter the sleep state due to power outage. At this point, the discharge ends.

 

6. Bluetooth function

Bluetooth shutdown, Bluetooth applet to check discharge status, Bluetooth short range OTA. Bluetooth cannot be turned on because the Bluetooth chip is not powered before it is discharged.

 

7. Standard domestic socket

It comes with a 16A three-hole socket and a 10A two-hole and three-hole socket, which can be directly connected to various electrical equipment such as electric ovens, induction cookers, hot dryers, and fans.

 

8. IP65 protection

9. Double insulated

Double insulation brings a sense of security. Typical double-insulated products, such as cables, have a broken outer layer and another inner layer. Double insulation refers to insulation that has both working insulation (basic insulation) and protective insulation (supplementary insulation).

The advantage of double insulation is that it is safe and reliable and will not cause electric shock accidents when the basic insulation is damaged. Double insulation is the basic protective measure used to prevent electric shock used by Class II electrical appliances and tools.

The characteristic of double insulation is that it does not require a grounding wire (and does not allow grounding protection), so it is not restricted by whether there is a grounding facility in the location, and it is not like I When there are no other safety protection measures like tools, the user must wear insulating gloves, wear insulating shoes or stand on an insulating mat before using them.

 

10. Electronic locking

During the discharge process, the charging gun cannot be pulled out from the car. On the one hand, it is safer. On the other hand, if there is no electronic lock, pulling out the gun head directly during the discharge process may cause arcing.

 

11. Indicator light.

Indicator lights represent different states. For example, the flashing green light indicates standby, the breathing green light indicates discharging, the breathing red light indicates output overload, and the flashing red light indicates fault.
